PARISH FOOD DRIVE 10/4 – 10/14: Help and Hope for Kensington

Oct 10, 2021 | Community

Fr. Peter has been writing about Kensington, a section of North Philadelphia which seems to be a forgotten place, with forgotten people, but not forgotten by God. Members of our young adult group with Starfish Coffee House had traveled with him to work with Michael Grogan, whose ministry serves the poorest among us. Michael serves those not only lacking food or money, but also poor in spirit, with no guidance in their lives due to drugs and violence. The group has brought food, water, and other necessities to the people, along with words of comfort, inspiration, and hope.

The community remains in dire need and is experiencing a food shortage. Our parish is holding a food drive for non-perishable food and water, providing hope to these people by recognizing their need and that they matter. The food drive begins this week in honor of our Patron St. Francis, and will end on Thursday October 14, so the provisions collected can be delivered to the Kensington community next weekend, October 16. Please drop off food and water donations to the Rectory from 9am-3pm. Thank you in advance to all who can participate.
