Funerals / Bereavement

We Pray For You

The Clergy, together with our Priests, Deacons, staff and the congregation of our parish extend their heartfelt condolences on the passing of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Ministry of Consolation serves to assist grieving families in the selection of appropriate readings and serve as guidance during grief-filled times.

The liturgy of the funeral Mass offered for the deceased provides opportunities for family members or friends to participate as pallbearers, as lectors who offer  readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, or the Prayer of the Faithful.

Where some families may choose not to participate in the selection of readings or music, our clergy or Music Ministry will select appropriate themes. Likewise, pallbearers can be provided by your funeral home, and a lector to prepare the readings.

In some parts of the liturgical year, some readings or music may not be appropriate for the annual cycle of seasons observed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Families are encouraged to preview the readings and music found in the pages to follow to select a reading from the Old Testament, a reading from the New Testament, as well as up to four music selections.

Questions may be directed to the companion assigned to you by the Ministry of Consolation, or by contacting the rectory office directly at (631)757-7435.
