The Starfish Pilgrimage

Apr 11, 2021 | Social

On March 25-28, 2021 a group of nine young adults from St. Francis of Assisi Parish, including many members of the parish’s Coffeehouse, enjoyed a three night, four day pilgrimage. The pilgrims took guided tours of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Shrine in Auriesville, NY, the Shrine of St. Kateri Tekawakitha in Fonda, NY, and a walking tour of Amsterdam, NY (aka “Rug City”). They also visited The National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA for Mass and prayer of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

The pilgrims spent their last evening at The Winter Clove Inn, a historic Catskills Resort, before attending Palm Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Cairo, NY and hiking to the Kaaterskill Falls in Hines Falls, NY.

Each evening the pilgrims enjoyed excellent, multi-course dinners, and the group stayed in affordable yet historic and beautiful hotels. The trip was organized by parishioners Alan Hartman and Jason Marino, and the pilgrims were especially pleased to welcome and be accompanied by Huntington Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, who greatly loves his Catholic faith.

Further young adult pilgrimages are planned and all interested young adults are invited to join the parish’s Coffeehouse mailing list for news of further pilgrimages. Many thanks to Fr. Peter and all others who made this pilgrimage possible!
