SVDP Thanksgiving Food Drive
The weekend before Thanksgiving was a busy one here at St. Francis. Our conference of The Society of St. Vincent dePaul, with some help from our Religious Ed students, was hard at work distributing turkeys and all the fixings for our neighbors in need.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to our Religious Ed families and the parishioners of St. Francis who generously donated the food.
On Friday, SVDP members were turkey shopping! On Saturday, all the food was organized into categories and volunteers packed bags for each family. Sunday was distribution day!
In previous years, the families would come into the church to pick up their food, but out of necessity this year, we created a drive in pickup, and it was a huge success!
Phil Dedora, our president, said he missed the personal contact with our neighbors as we always like to say hello, catch up and see some of the littler family members, but we received many smiles and elbow bumps of gratitude from our St. Vincent dePaul families.
