St. Vincent de Paul – February 2022 Reflections

Feb 27, 2022 | Social

St Vincent DePaul Society is a Catholic lay organization that leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

Week of February 27th 2022: Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today, Jesus uses images in speaking to his disciples: “Can a blind man act as guide to a blind man?…Why look at the speck in your brother’s eye when you miss the plank in your own?…A good tree does not produce decayed fruit….”

It is true that donations come to the Society because a good person produces goodness from the good in their heart.

*Checks made payable to Society of St. Vincent DePaul and dropped in the collection baskets will help us serve our neighbors in need throughout the Greenlawn area.

Week of February 20th 2022: Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel Jesus gives us the challenge to: “Love your enemies… Give to everyone who asks of you…Do to others as you would have them do to you…Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

In the month of February, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist families by providing them food, utility, rent, bills, and etc. Thank you!

Week of February 13th 2022: Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today, Jesus gives us the blessings of serving the poor, hungry and weeping people, for you will then rejoice and leap for joy. But Jesus also teaches us the decisiveness of choice: blessing or woe.

Choosing to help those who are suffering will fill your heart with the blessing of Jesus and indeed your reward will be great in heaven.

Week of February 6th 2022: Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today, the disciples decide to leave everything to follow Jesus. We are also called to follow Jesus, who tells us that “whatever you do to the least of mine, you do for me.”

Your gift to the poor can bring the love and peace of Jesus to those who live in fear and doubt, loneliness and dread.
