Special Collection for Haiti this Weekend

Aug 29, 2021 | Social

To our parishioners,

With the tragic earthquake and hurricane events that have occurred in the long-suffering nation of Haiti, the Diocese of Rockville Centre has authorized us, along with the other parishes in Nassau and Suffolk, to take up a special collection this weekend, August 28th and 29th, on behalf of the victims of these natural catastrophes.

In your pew, you will find specially designed yellow envelopes for use in this second collection next week.

Several years ago, after the great earthquake in Haiti, St. Francis of Assisi responded beautifully, and contributed a larger sum of money than many affluent parishes in our diocese. This shows the esteem that we hold all members of our Haitian community who reside in Greenlawn and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Please return the envelope with your contribution in this week’s special second collection.

Thank you and God bless you for your generosity.

Day of Prayer for Legal Protection

All dioceses in the U.S. are called to observe this Day of Prayer. January 22 is the anniversary of the 1973 Supreme Court decisions that legalized abortion throughout our nation.
