Father’s Day Weekend Wiffleball Tournament Raises $12,000
St. Vincent de Paul Society and Greenlawn Civic Association sponsored this year’s Father’s Day Weekend Charity Wiffleball Tournament, raising $12,000. Proceeds were used for local outreach efforts and college scholarships. Harborfields High School students Leah Dascoli, Lexi Huntington, Caroline Prainito, and Nicole Kerr were the recipients of this year’s scholarships, which were awarded based on academic achievement and community service.
11 teams participated in Saturday’s Tournament held at Harborfields High school. Team Astoria Artichokes won the tournament. Ryan Smith, Christian Smith, Tony Marotto, Tommy Smolko, and Eric Weber will have their names appear on a trophy plaque, displayed in Broadway Pizza of Greenlawn.
Congratulations to Eric Weber who won the Home Run Derby. Eric hit 14 home runs, including a 132 foot bomb! Both of these feats were tournament records! Many thanks to all the participants and local corporate sponsors that made this event possible. Borg Insurance were our Tee shirt sponsors, and Farm Italy were our Home Plate sponsors. Again, our thanks to all!
