Weekend Report from Kensington: Donations make a Difference

Oct 24, 2021 | Ministries

This past weekend the Starfish Coffee House went on a pilgrimage to Kensington, PA to help out a dear friend of the parish, Michael Grogan and his ministry. Michael Grogan’s mission is to connect lives to Heaven’s love on earth. He has helped the roughest neighborhoods in the tri-state area connect with the Holy Trinity especially through Our Spiritual Mother, Mary.

To say the least, the situation in Kensington, PA is like no other. The streets are filled with homeless people, almost as packed as New York City on a daily basis. There are no homeless shelters in Philadelphia, so there is nowhere for them to go. The streets are covered in trash, the people are thirsty, hungry, exposed to the elements, and desperate for any aid possible. Our members were shocked when they arrived – some even said this situation is unlike any mission work they have ever seen.

We set up a table with the supplies generously donated by the parishioners of St. Francis and the people came swarming to us. They were deeply appreciative of the smallest things, water, a toothbrush, soap, and some food, some responding with “God Bless You.” There was a priest available for confession and prayers for anyone who wanted it.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donations to this important ministry work. If you would like to learn more about Michael Grogan’s Ministry or if you want to help support his work please visit his website at www.michaelgroganministry.com

Thank you St. Francis parish,
from the Starfish Coffee House!
