Each year, The Knights of Columbus sponsor a Poster Contest for children in grades K – 8. The theme of the contest is “Keep Christ in Christmas.” Entrants must create an original drawing that reflects this holy theme. Peter Dowd is a member of our local Greenlawn Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph’s Council 4810, and a teacher for 6th grade in our Religious Education program. He spoke to our students about the contest, and happily, over 25 posters were submitted! Posters from St. Francis were judged against those from St. Philip Neri Church and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.
We are proud to announce that all three division winners are from St. Francis!
Lauren Nelson, Grade 6 – winner of the grades 6-8 division
Riley Draiss, Grade 3 – winner of the grades 3-5 division
Isabella Perkowski, Grade 2 – winner of the grades K-2 division
Each winner received a $50 gift card. The winning posters now go onto to another level of competition within the Knights of Columbus organization.
We are so proud of all our entrants! The posters are on display in the lower church until mid-February for everyone to see. You can also view them on our parish website. Thank you to the Knights for sponsoring the contest, and for the wonderful work they do in our parish community.
