Starfish Coffee House – My Journey to the Starfish Coffee House

My Journey to the Starfish Coffee House

My journey began about a year and half ago when I was going through a very difficult time in my life, and all I had was God, my family, and close friends. As I was looking to move, God provided me with a nice spot in Centerport. As I got to know the location and the many Catholic Churches in the area, I asked one of the priests, “What is there to do for young adults in the diocese?” The first thing he mentioned was the Rockville Centre Diocese Young Adults, and the second thing he mentioned was the Starfish Coffee House at St. Francis in Greenlawn. When I went home and did a little research on Starfish and I saw there was a meeting the following Friday. A few days later I received the monthly newsletter from the Rockville Centre Diocese Young Adults, and I saw the Starfish advertisement. I knew then that God was telling me to go there. I had prayed for a while to help me find spiritually minded young adults, and true to His word, God answered. I look forward to the meetings, seeing friends, and making new ones. There is always great spiritual conversation as well as thoughtful, kind conversation. We are always checking in on each other to see how we are doing, as well as very supportive of each other. For me it has been a breath of fresh air, and I wish it was something I had ten years ago. The Starfish Coffee House provides a great service to the young adults in the community. I would like to thank, Fr. Peter, Giovanna, and Marcin for this wonderful gift they have created.

May you and your families stay safe, and may God bless you and yours,
Jason Marino
