St. Francis Corpus Christi Procession! The feast

Jun 21, 2024 | Ministries

The feast of Corpus Christi, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, was joyfully celebrated at St. Francis in this year of Eucharistic Revival with a beautiful and faith-filled procession of the Blessed Sacrament.

At 1pm on Sunday June 2nd, a prayerful and happy group of parishioners followed Deacon Jean Cantave, who carried the Monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament, and processed through the blocks surrounding St. Francis. Deacon Allan led the procession with incense; Deacon Jim accompanied Fr. Peter.

Six of our parishioners offered their homes as a prayer stop for Our Lord, by setting up a table in the street with flowers. At each prayer stop, Ellen Lobasso led everyone in a decade of the Rosary; Al Barbarino was able to accompany us in song as well. Two of our precious little parishioners were there to spread rose petals at each stop. At the conclusion of the procession, Benediction was offered in the Church and the Blessed Sacrament was reposed.

The bright sunshine and beautiful breezes were a welcome sign from God blessing our group of pilgrims. A special thank you is offered to the Suffolk County Police Department who accompanied the procession and kept everyone safe. God bless all the officers in their work.
