St. Vincent de Paul – October 2022

Oct 30, 2022 | Social, St. Vincent de Paul

St Vincent DePaul Society is a Catholic lay organization that leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

Week of October 30th: Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today, Zacchaeus accepts our Lord joyfully; and the sign of his acceptance is his open house and his resolution to give half of his goods to the poor.

Through your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you also show your acceptance of our Lord by joyfully sharing your goods with your neighbor who is hungry, hopeless, alone and frightened.

*Checks made payable to Society of St. Vincent DePaul and dropped in the collection baskets will help us serve our neighbors in need throughout the Greenlawn area.

Week of October 23rd: Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In this Sunday’s Gospel, the tax collector’s prayer allows God to be God and so allows God to pour mercy into his heart. When we pray and give alms to the poor, we allow God’s mercy to be poured into their hearts.

In the month of October, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring God’s love and mercy to many family by providing food, utilies, rent bills, and etc. Thank you!

Week of October 17th: Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today Jesus tells his disciples to pray always without becoming weary., indeed our prayer must always be an expression of our love for God, our family, our world, and especially for the suffering poor.

As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box, please say a special prayer for the poor who have no one to pray for them.

Week of October 9th: Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel we hear that only one of those healed returned to glorify God and to give thanks to God. It is true, that when we have a grateful heart we know that everything is a gift from God.

To give thanks for all that God has given to you, have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

Week of October 2nd: Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells his disciples, “When you have done all you have been commanded, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have only done what we were obliged to do.”

This week, please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to bring the love and mercy of Jesus to those who feel left out and abandoned, for indeed we are only doing “what we are obliged to do”.
