St. Vincent de Paul – August 2022 Reflections
Week of August 28th: Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today, we hear Jesus say to us, “…when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
With love for your neighbors who are poor, crippled, lame or blind, look around your house to see what furniture, household items, and clothing you no longer use…and give it to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
*Checks made payable to Society of St. Vincent DePaul and dropped in the collection baskets will help us serve our neighbors in need throughout the Greenlawn area.
Week of August 21st: Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us to “strive to enter through the narrow gate.” Our call to be disciples and to follow Jesus demands that we learn to live for the sake of others.
In the month of August, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist families by providing them food, utilities, rent bills, etc. Thank You!
Week of August 14th: Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it be accomplished!
Your gift to the Society to assist those suffering in poverty will help set the earth on fire with the of God’s love.
Week of August 7th: Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In this Gospel, Jesus says “Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.”
Please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul bring respite and hope to the elderly who are not able to find relief from the summer heat, and you will indeed find “an inexhaustible treasure in heaven!”
