Peanut Butter & Jelly Gang Gone Virtual
We’re back!! On Sunday. December 6, we had our first PBJ Gang meeting since February! We decided to try something different to circumvent the risk of Covid 19. (Thank you Father Peter for the nudge!!).
We did our PBJ Gang meeting via Zoom! And it worked! We all made sandwiches in our own kitchens at the same time! Thanks to all who helped, especially the Girl Scouts from Troop 380, we made 462 sandwiches!! Very awesome for our first ever Zoom attempt!!! We are very proud and excited to get back on a monthly schedule.
We brought our PBJs to the soup kitchen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wyandanch. They were very appreciative. Because soup kitchens and pantries tend to get fewer contributions after the holidays we will also collect non perishable food items and wash up kit items to bring along with our future PBJs.
And here’s a crazy random number: we’ve been making PBJs once a month for about 15 years. Averaging 400 a month, we’ve made and shared about 72,000 sandwiches! That’s a lot of peanut butter!!
All are welcome.
Good for community service hours, too!!
